Nice to virtually meet you! Here's what you need to know about me.

I’m a Career Ownership Coach with The Entrepreneur’s Source where my mission is “to help people assess their career possibilities and dreams – specializing in their exploration of business ownership and franchise opportunities”.

I spent 34 years in the newspaper industry. I began my career as a night typesetter and worked my way up into management through the ranks from Production Manager, to Art Director, to Corporate Systems Manager and eventually Director of Operations with McClatchy Newspapers. During my early years, I also had two entrepreneurial small business ventures in the field of graphic design and production art. Those years in the newspaper industry fostered many different skills, including leadership, innovation, and collaboration. Valuable experiences and skills were built working with great teams. I have been fortunate to work for some great companies but (probably like you) something was missing.

I had long desired to again become a business owner and take my future into my own hands, but I didn’t know where to start.  As I entered into my own career transition phase, I knew it was the right time to bet on myself and venture out on my own.

As your coach, I am committed to create a safe space for you to learn about different possibilities with no pressure or judgement.  I will be here to guide you through the discovery process and allow you to make choices that are best for you.

During more than 34 years as a business professional, I developed a focus on client service, small business strategy, leadership, organization management, commitment to increasing profits, and senior business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

I’m a widower with 24 year old twin boys and a 21 year old daughter and live in Merced, CA. Some of the things I enjoy doing outside of work are: fishing, music festivals and live music, gardening, cooking and BBQing, camping, art, anything space or aerospace related, and spending time with friends and family.

Work history.

Diverse work experiences have contributed a great deal to my coaching practice.  A variety of roles and industries give me a unique perspective, and help me to better understand my clients as they navigate their possibilities of career ownership.

  • My first 7.5 years, while in college and right after, was spent with Sun Newspapers working my way up from an intern night typesetter to Production Manager.
  • The next 3.5 years were spent as the Art Director of the Long Beach Business Journal. In addition, we produced the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Council yearly directory, the McDonnell Douglas Magazine and various other one-off magazines.
  • I then spent 2 years as an entrepreneur as sole proprietor of MTR Production Graphics where I produced silk-screen T-Shirt designs, VCR covers, CD covers, Posters, Packaging, the annual Seal Beach Business Association Directory and also the bi-monthly Butte County Business Journal.
  • The next 7 years were spent as the Corporate Systems Manager / Y2K Coordinator for Pacific Sierra Publishing, Inc. and was responsible for all computers and networks for 22 newspapers at 17 locations from Chula Vista to Santa Cruz in California.
  • Then, after McClatchy Newspapers purchased several of our local papers including the Merced paper where I lived, I spent the next 15 years as Operations Director of 5 newspapers, 1 daily and 4 weekly. In this role I was responsible for Prepress, Pressroom, Packaging, Circulation, Building and Maintenance, and local IT operations & Telecom.
  • The past four+ years have been spent with The Entrepreneur’s Source.  Here I have found joy and satisfaction I did not think was possible.  I love helping my clients figure out their “Why” and explore new career paths that put them in control of their destiny.

  • I help my clients figure out their “Why” and explore new career paths that put them in control of their destiny.
  • I love the fact that I help my clients improve their lives by investing in themselves and their dream.
  • I enjoy the fact that my clients success is my only business focus.
  • I get great satisfaction when the lightbulb comes on when my clients come to a point of clarity.

“I started with just me and one truck, working out of my garage. I now have four employees, and I am in a commercial space. The earnings potential is pretty well limitless at this point. I am busy. I do have to spend time away from my family just as I did before. But now, if I want to stay home and cook my kids breakfast, I can. On nice sunny days, if I want to cut out early to take the kids swimming, I do. I don’t just have weekends to choose from anymore.”
